We are looking forward, to fill a position, for the Research Group Machine Learned Models for Engineers (ML4E) at the Institute for Software and Systems Engineering (ISSE) at the TU Clausthal.

The position is for the duration of three years in full-time. Part time is negotiable.
The current developments in artificial intelligence, especially machine learning, indicate that these systems will soon support people in their work in a variety of fields. Less visible but equally disruptive, this development is also taking place in engineering and natural sciences.
Whether it's accelerating complex simulation models through AI approximations or using large language models to search for research papers and related software, we aim to continue making groundbreaking contributions with our team.

Your tasks will be:
- Research on approaches to utilizing AI (especially language models) to support engineers and engineering sciences, in collaboration with our ML4E team.
- Further development of our meta-search engine, Betty's ReSearch Engine, particularly to integrate these approaches.
- Publication of your results at national and international conferences.
- Assistance in preparing lectures, supervising exercises, and mentoring students.
Your profile:
- Strong academic degree (Master's or Diplom) in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Mathematics, or a related field, with an interest in scientific work as part of a Ph.D.
- Relevant experience in machine learning and artificial intelligence, particularly in Natural Language Processing
- Experience in software development
- Independent, structured working style and quick comprehension, with the ability to rapidly understand new concepts
- Strong programming skills and experience with ML libraries (e.g., PyTorch or TensorFlow)
- Excellent German language skills, both spoken and written
- Good English language skills, both spoken and written
Desired knowledge in the following areas:
- Experience in software engineering and software architectures
- Experience with common software development tools, such as Git, continuous integration, and issue tracking
- Experience in web development and web technologies (REST, JavaScript, ...)

Remuneration is based on the collective agreement for the public service of the federal states (TV-L). At the end of the year, the TV-L provides for a special annual payment. In addition, we offer a separate supplementary pension in the form of a company pension (VBL).
